Very small foot injury will not heal? |
I have a very small hole on the bottom of my foot, only about as big as 1/4 of a dime, about as deep as the thickness of 3 CD's. It will not heal and I have to clean it and dress it twice a day to prevent infection. This has been there about 4 months. I have thought about cutting it back some to jump start the healing. Any suggestions? (Other than "go to doctor" -- I can't afford the deductible.) Well, I am using alcohol to clean it with,. I notice you recommended hydogen peroxide, will that make a difference in healing? non-healing wounds can be a symptom of diabetes. you might try an antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin or the bandaids that have antibiotic ointment on them. you may still need to see a doctor. You might want to let it breathe. It should be healing the fact that it's not, warrants a dr. But letting it reach open air should heal it. Check your blood for diabetes. You must have high blood sugar or hyperglycemic. get medical attention You can try some treatments, but definitely see a doctor if you don't notice an improvement in the week or so, or if the area gets red, hot, painful, or swollen, which can indicate an infection. Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself, so you might try to protect it as it does so... Clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide, put some triple antibiotic ointment on it, protect it from pressure with one of those spongy callous protectors with a hole in the middle, then put a bandage on top of that. Then, do not touch it for a few days and see what happens. Try some chewable vitamin C and a healthy diet (no junk food, soda, or sugar; eat lots of veggies). If it doesn't look better, definitely see a doctor. you might be diabetic, if you foot can't heal it means that blood is not going to your foot very well , bad circulation is a good sign of diabetes , not only that if you are diabetic and this gets infected you WILL get gangrene (can't spell that word) and then you will have to get your foot chopped off not kidding. you probably don't want to see this but GO TO A DOCTOR either you lose money of your foot think about it |
