Can you run with screws in you foot after a lisfranc injury? |
I suffered a Lisfranc injury late last year. My surgeon wants to leave the screws in my foot (3 of them). Can anyone tell me is it possible to run and mountain climb again with screws remaining in my foot. Someone else out there has had to deal with this. Thanks You should ask your Doctor this question. I would say no from people I know who have had this surgery. But your Doctor may say yes, with certain precautions. But I wouldn't do any of those things until you have cleared it with him. I'm fairly sure that he would be able to send you to a Physio that would make you able to run again but again, I would not even try running until you have cleared it with him. Getting the surgery is usually not the last step in the healing process. yes you can after some time. my dad also got that, and he walks and runs perfectlly. but just give it some time and dont give up if it hurts. Your "podiatrist" will tell you when and how aggressively you can start do these activites. With this type of repair, the screws are there to fuse the bones together repairing the fracture. This is OK since your cuboid bones are not flexible to begin with. The screws will eventually want to work themselves out of the foot, usually after about one year, this is when you start to feel pain or an "uncomfortable irritation". Hope this helps. |
