Ball of foot / Yoga Injury????????? Is this possible?

OK - does this sound like a reasonable explanation?
I'm really guessing here that my Monday night yogalates strained the crap out of the ball of my right foot.
We had a balance move during which you place all your weight on right leg, raise the left leg w/ knee bent -then straighten left leg, then place left leg onto right knee and "sit" into it.
The ball of my right foot has been "burning" ever since.

Is it possible to 'bruise' the ball of your foot?

I ran 3 miles tuesday night, but then skipped out on a weights class wednesday and skipped out on my run yesterday.

I FEEL LIKE A TOTAL SLUG OVER THIS!

PLS HELP!!!!

Should I continue working out? (I.E. go to a toning/weights class tonight)

Should I go for walks? Help!

It does sound like you irritated or inflamed a muscle: you should not be risking it further with running until the pain is gone. I am not a physical therapist, but based on my own foot difficulties when hiking, etc. I would recommend that you take some anti-inflammatories (aspirin or ibuprofen: just regular dose), and try cooling the area with an ice pack for a few minutes, and keep it elevated for a while (say 2X each day for the next 2 days.)

Your body can go without heavy exercise for a while as you help this muscle heal: it will come back more healthy than ever after it gets 24-26 hours of rest, which will help all the muscles you worked out with your run and yoga to rebuild themselves.

The foot is hard to heal: if the pain doesn't go away with anti-inflammatories, elevation, cool, and rest, you will probably have to go check with a podiatrist. Good luck!

quite possibly it is swollen and strained. i would ease off of it and maybe elevate your foot and ice it. i have had this problem and that is my best suggestion for you.
