I want to work in the health field??

i know that i want to be in the health field, but my fiance and i are struggling a little financially, so i want to get my foot in the door where training wont be too long and i will make a descent salary (we live in TN and i cant seem to get a job making more the $6 and hour!!!) What type of training should i start with. I dont know where i want to be in the end, but i know someday i will be working in the health field one way or another!! THANKS!!

You can start by training to be a nurse's assistant. The training is often done by the place that hires you (so you can train on the job, so to speak) so you don't have to worry about the time frame of training. You'd need to call around to nursing homes or hospitals to inquire whether they offer training. Once you've done this you can go to school for training to be a nurse, etc. If you can get on at a hospital once you're trained (and worked at the place that trained you for the required amount of time) that would be best. At a hospital, you will be able to be at least around other fields in the medical field. These may interest you more than nursing. There's respiratory therapists, X-ray technicians, etc. Once you've been hanging around for a while, you'll get a better idea of what you want to do in the medical field.

Good for you!

Start your training with remedial English (you don't want a "descent" (down) salary; you want a "decent" (good) salary). Why is that important? Do YOU want YOUR nurse or physician or therapist to misspell a critical, and potentially deadly, prescription? After that, virtually every community college in the USA offers some kind of medical certificate training (e.g., X-Ray tech; pre-med; nursing; etc). Community colleges offer low-cost training. Of course, you have to have good grades to get in, though they usually aren't as fussy as ivy league schools. Try to find work as a volunteer or intern in a hospital and/or paramedic unit and/or retirement home and/or coroner's office, etc, and make sure to ask for references when you leave (don't bother asking for them unless you've worked there for at least six months; nobody outside that work will care about such ultra-short-term work). After your community college/intern experiences, your goals will be limited only by your grades, determination, and ability to find financial backing/loans/scholarships.

As for finding an accelerated program, nobody wants medical staff who will rush through a diagnosis, much less a student who want to find the "easy" way out.
