Is stinky sock and foot sniffing unhealthy?

I've seen people do this on the Web; the first thing that comes to mind: What damage is this doing to these people's health? Could a person get sick, contract a disease, or die from the inhalation of another's sock and foot odors?

Hmmm well I sniff my boyfriends feet (as he does mine), I sniff his rear, pick his nose/ears and sniff his other area. Death must be coming for me!

yes in fact a study at Harvard suggests it might contribute in part to some forms of cancer.

My dogs are fine so far and they sniff everyday.

The only harm would be if a person stepped into a dangerous substance and it got on their foot or socks.

But just everyday stinky feet I doubt are harmful.
