I have officially been told "NO ONE" wants to work with me in the mental health field..?

I have BPD, and other stuff but the Borderline is what's killing me, literally. I've had a horrible past two weeks, and in my attempt to limit my moods I asked my family GP to put me back on some meds. I've been off all meds since Nov/07, and my therapist was all for stopping them, however in the last little while he has been mentioning a possibility of starting back on some, but I never got a clear answer as to what was going on with that "thought". Things have been so out of control for me, and nobody seemed to care so I went and seen my GP. In order to put me on anything he wanted me to go to the hospital for reason unknown. They kept me overnight in the crisis room on a two foot couch until 730am, when all hell broke lose. The "shrink" whom I've seen before told me that if I EVER contact Crisis Intervention, I will be charged. And stated that HE runs the show at all hospitals(2) and going to run the mental health clinic as well. He ACCUSED me of harassing the crisis workers which

which had zero truth, I had contacted them 3-4 times in the last week in dealing with my mental state and NEVER had been rude about anything.. then I seen my therapist who then made it very clear that NO ONE ANYWHERE wants to take me on as a patient cause of the BPD. Not only did that kill the self esteem, but I no longer have any means of contact with anyone in crisis mode and my own therapist is pushing me aside.. I can't handle that at all, all this time I thought he was the one that wasn't going to give up on me, now I'm standed... Is it inevidble that suicide WILL be my only cure, now that no one cares what happens to me? No contacts, no help, no back up plan, and possibly no therapist..which he's choosing not to speak with me.. What the heck is left that I can do or go for life saving help.. Please, I need every answer possible, I'm not a nasty person, I'm sick thats all.. Thanx

I would try going to get some help out of state. A second opinion is definetely needed here. Any doctor worth his diploma will not turn away a patient. That is called the Hypocratic Oath. You may want to get the AMA involved and lodge a formal complaint against the doctors and hospital. In the mean time, if your GP will offer help, then take whatever he/she offers. It is important you get some medical assistance than none. It is not your fault and keep your chin up. You recognize what is going on with you and that is a good thing.

My husband had a couple of jerk doctors. One almost led him to suicide, so I can relate to what you're feeling. Do the best you can right now and take one day at a time. Report It

I would call someone to report the shrink's behavior.
Talk to your GP again and tell him what went on.

I had a neurologist say i was basically a drama queen!
I told my GP to send me to another one.

Mental illness sucks and there is little good help out there. You need to find a doctor who is compassionate and willing to listen.
Good Luck. I will pray for you.

Been there. There are some doctors out there and counselours who have this horrible stigma about BPD. They think it as ugly and manipulative. THe best advice I can give is to do what I did (I'm in recovery)-learn about it as much as you can. THe book "I hate you-don't leave me" is a quick read and soooo helpful. Good luck and I guess try to find some compassion becasue this dumb doctor is so friggin ignorant.

not knowing where you live--I can only give you limited advice. Find another therapist, because he is wrong-there is people out there that are willing to help and people do care. Just try to make sure the threapist is not associated with this dr. If they are willing, enlist your family support, a church counselor might be able to help too. Looking outside of where you would normally go may be your only solution. Just don't give up-the help is out there--focusing on getting yourself help and NOT giving up will help somewhat. Good luck honey and God bless you.

I would report them to both the clinic administration and the hospital administration and tell the what you told us. Also let them know that you have contacted your attorney and that if any thing happens to you because no one will give you the help that you need it will be made public knowledge, I would also seriously think about changing hospitals and if you can't do that where you are, Get your attorney involved. IF nothing else they will hate the bad publicity and they should allow you to change to another health care provider.

maybe they just think your doing it for attention, and trying to manipulate them into getting services. Like they think your fine and do not have a problem. I have never heard of mental health services turning down anyone. that is odd .
You claim to be sick, so, obviously feel that you are, and maybe it is not as bad because the professionals do not want to deal with it? I don't know really, I am just guessing?
It all seems very strange. It sounds like they are trying to scare you though. And I don't know the reasons behind it.
BPD individuals fear abandonment issues. That is a big one for them. They are not taking you seriously for some reason. BPD can be fatal, and it is a real illness. Perhaps you are presenting yourself as a real ill person, more then you really are. Maybe your trying to gain their attention or just want sympathy? I do not know.
This really seems bizarre to me.

See BPD, in section 15, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris I'd find a new therapist. THERAPISTS: Closely examine the www.1-800-therapist.org website, and use the locators, in section 1, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and phone book. Personally, I'd opt for a psychologist who believes in only recommending minimal necessary medication, if at all, because they don't issue prescriptions, so are considerably less likely to be involved with the rewards, and inducements offered by sales reps from "big pharma": the large drug companies, to psychiatrists (there are links to, or articles on how psychiatry has become corrupted by money from drug companies, and "how doctors are being manipulated", in section 1: worth reading!). It's important to not only feel comfortable with your therapist, but also to know about their qualifications, and the type of therapy used (read section 1). Some people are in therapy for many years, and pay a small fortune in fees, so recognise that therapists may have a vested interest in keeping their patients coming back. It pays the rent, and permits them to feel that they are fulfilling a useful function in life. For this reason, I believe that, unless there is a need for a specific type of therapy, such as Dialectical Behavio(u)ral Therapy, for Borderline Personality Disorder, or EMDR therapy, for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it is a good idea to start out with a psychologist who uses Cognitive Behavio(u)ral Therapy, which often can accomplish all it is capable of, in 6 months, and to fix that time limit in the first session. In that way, the therapist knows that there is only a limited window of opportuntiy to do what they can, and there is no unconscious motivation to attempt to draw things out. If, at the end of that time, you believe you could benefit from a little more therapy, then you can extend it, but I'd advise the therapist a few weeks before the final session, in case they are considering taking on a new patient, leaving you "high, and dry" committed, and without options, except to find someone else. ~~~ Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." Avoid the hospital, unless your MD/doctor has diagnosed a medical condition, and carry in the paperwork: print this, or tell your doctor, and ensure a phone call is made to the hospital, before you go.
