Does anyone know of a doctor or clinic that would take a person w/o health coverage for gastric bypsass surger |
our daughters' insurance won't cover gastric bypass surgery. Her weight is 400 plus and no diet plan has helped. Her health is good (except for a thyroid problem) and knee and feet problems due to weight. No b/p or heart or diabetes problems. She needs help but doesn't know what else to do. She has tried liquid/weight watchers/hypnosis.We live in the midwest (Missouri). Anyone know of a clinic/study/or doctor that would consider treating her without insurance coverage? Thanks. She can't afford it (the cost is close to $40,000) and then plastic surgery to take off the excess fat that hangs after such a surgery). Just wondered if clinics are available to folks in this type of predicament? Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling / lap band (all types of bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I don't live in Missouri, but since it is such a dangerous procedure, some surgeons avoid it. If you are willing to pay for it out of pocket, yes, I am sure you will find someone to perform this. Call a reputable surgeon and inquire about the cost. They usually require a psychological evaluation before the procedure as well. You mentioned thyroid problems. I would check into that further. You did not mention if she was on medication for thyroid. If not, seek a doctor's help with that. You can get gastric bypass procedures very very cheap abroad. Maybe 10,000 or less. Check out this book, it has information on many clinics abroad which offer surgery: http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTIMATE-GUIDE-TO-PL... |
