My friend suddenly developed these symptoms and I'm very worried about her. She doesn't have medical insurance so she visited the local health dept. They don't seem to be concerned enough about her. She's lost over 20 pds within a month and a half. She's only 39 years old, and until now, has been in perfect health. Her pain started in her elbows, left them and went to her knees, left there and went to her feet where it has remained for two weeks. Most anything that touches her leaves a bruise, and she has tremendous pain in her feet. She also has a red ring around her ankle, and just below her ankle, the skin is purple. She also says that even a blanket or sheet put over her feet in bed feels like they are breaking. They stay freezing cold all the time. I know she needs to see a doctor, but without insurance her choices are very limited. If anyone out there has any expertise with this type of thing, I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you, CM If I was you I would contact a medical university and find a doctor that does volunteers in medicine. It could be a number of things but what comes to mind is a blood infection . If it is traveling in her body the way to find out is a blood culture. I would not wait to seek help. Tell her to keep going till someone listens and if that doesn't work go to your town hall and speak to your mayor. They can push for the help you need. The reason for my thought is that white blood cell fight infection when they are low you get bruising. So because it is traveling I think I would look at blood disorders. |
