Alot of mixed eating disorders? |
I really struggle with my body shape, and granted, I weight 107 and I'm only 5 foot so I'm "normal", but I gain belly fat WAY too easy and it's always been a point of stress for me. So for the past few years I've really messed myself up with periods of extensive starvation and then periods of excessive over eating and I've hit a rut because now I can't eat because my body will react by storing everything it can but I have to eat because as we all know...that's sort of a requirement to keep living. I don't want to be bulimic anymore and I need a way to keep the belly fat away and still be able to eat more than 450 calories in a day. In the same way that your body has gone into starvation mode and you metabolism has shifted, it needs to be shifted back. I'll be honest with you, it may mean a little weight gain, but your metabolism can get healthily re-established. A dietician could be very helpful in introducing the correct amount of food, and slowly, so you don't freak out mentally. Your body has hit a rut like you said, but the only healthy way of losing fat and eating more is going to be increasing your intake. It may take 3-12 months, but you can do it! Its called eat smart and moderate exercise. the only way to gain is if yout intake is more then what you burn in a day. Eat smart and then when your body is out of starvation mode then get to a gym and exercise. You convinced yourself to do it now convince yourself not to. slowly increase your calorie intake every day I think you may want to consider seeing a nutritionist who specializes in eating disorders. I know what you are talking about - how past eating habits can affect your metabolism to the point that any thing you eat makes you gain weight. (Or makes you feel you are gaining wait, which is essentially the same thing to anyone who struggles with eating issues.) You definitely need to exercise in moderation, as you should anyway, but exercising can help you rebuild a healthy metabolism as you establish healthier eating habits. A nutritionist who works with people who have/had a eating disorder will know how to help you design meal plans that are right for you, in consideration of your past eating problems, fears, and concerns. |
