Hey all.
Im really struggleing at the moment trying to gain weight as ive been told by my doctor im very underweight and i seriously need to gain weight.Im 5 foot and i weigh 6 stone im a size 00/0 and have had a eating disorder for the last year or so.
What foods are good for you but not got to many calories, ive been trying really hard and gained a pound.

Hi,

First of all hun try and forget all the supplement and eat this diet and that diet. None of them work.

Okay, the good news is that it is actually really simple to change things around and live a good healthy lifestyle.

The trick is not to get stuck down with specific regimes/diets etc that are overcomplicated and pointless.

First of all, is diet. This is really very simple.

To gain weight you have to remember that calories taken in, if not burned off, will make you gain weight.

Therefore all you need to do is eat four or even five small to medium meals a day. This will let your body take in a sustained ammount of nutrients/energy and calories throughout the day rather than loading up all at once. Each meal (apart from maybe breakfast) should contain ALL of the nutrients your body needs, ie. Protien (chicken, fish, eggs, some nuts, etc) carbs (potatoes, pasta, rice, etc) and vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, (as much fresh fruit and veg as you can).

Carbohydrates are probably the best think for helping you gain weight, so load up on the rice and pasta.

It doesn't matter what you eat, as long as it contains all three of these groups, and is cooked relatively healthily (no fry ups!!) Also, you can still have your fave pizza or takeaway or chocolate, just limit it to once or maybe twice a week.

This will help you gain weight in a healthy way, and not just pure fat from fry ups, etc.

Secondly is excercise.

Cardio is REALLY important. (Running/swimming/cycling/x training etc). This will not only improve your general health and make you fitter, it will also keep you healthy and help ward off a lot of diseases later in life, and also help you use that extra weight in a healthy way.

You should also try limited weight training. Really light weights and lots of reps will help tone up your body. This will add weight in itself as muscle ways more than fat, but again will just help you ensure that the weight you are putting on by eating loads of healthy energy giving food filled with carbs is being used in a positive way.

This will take time, but carry on like this, and after 6 months you and your doctor will be really surprised at the change.

I really hope my advice (or even someone elses here) helps you a little and you live a full and healthy life, good luck hun.

There are these bars that slow down your metabolism temporarily so that you can gain weight and they are called caltine bars.

Nutritionalists is the answer do not take advice for something like that on here you need professional advice my dear and good luck. x

when i had my jaw broken and had my mouth wired shut i lost alot of weight what i did was drink ALOT of protien and worked out a little becouse muscle weighs more than fat

hi
drink a lot of shakes with heavy cream the kind that comes from the diary in the carton

and eat a lot of pies, and donuts and pasta

Have you told the doctor that you have an eating disorder? They will be able to help you speak to a dietitian that can point you in the right direction.
Good Luck.

There are weight-gain powders sold at health-food stores meant for bodybuilders- choose one for it's nutritional value. You ask how to gain weight but without too many calories- to gain, you need foods with many calories, more than you can burn off. Eating disorders are psychological problems usually related to how we view ourselves so food alone can't fix that. Look to psychological help through self-help research as well as food to make yourself healthy again.

Start by eating foods that are high in proteins and have some carbs. Don't over do it with the carbs though. Carbs are good in moderation, plus your body needs them like a car needs gasoline for energy. But the body also needs other nutrients as well. I take a daily muliti vitamin along with a Calcium supplement [600mg] that has vitamin D included in it( D helps your body absorb the calcium better) With an eating disorder you are depriving/lacking the daily intake of nutrients. From your picture you look like a teenager who is still growing. Now is when you need to be eating right more than ever.It takes just as much time to put on weight as it does to take it off. BE PATIENT but also just keep eating right. Don't deprive yourself of sweets and high calorie foods but also don't over do it. REMEMBER MODERATION!!! your metabolism needs time to adjust. Just take it one day at a time and you'll do good.

look you need calories to gain some weight just have some junk food lots of calories without eating much but short term to gain weight it wouldent do you much harm infact being too underweight is worse . you should try a pcycologist or hypnotist to rid of mental blocks i feel that you still have them you know you need to gain weight but your holding yourself back .

As a person with HIV & hep-c I had this problem as well.Try drinking ENSUREs or Resource =meal in a can/box.Eat your meanls reg. & drink 1 drink with meals, you should start to gain weight & should also excercise so it doesn't all just turn to fat.I hope everything works out for you,& remember that your a unique & special person with your own unique gifts & qualitys,Use them wisly & choose wisely .May GOD bless you & yours with Peace,Happiness & Love

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.getgoinfo.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 4.95$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!
