Help!! Virus or food poisoning?

pls help!! my friends have been down with fever for 4 days but there are confusion that it may b a viral infection but it may also b food poisoning & it is happening everywhere now. but how can food poisoning cos fever & takes sooo long to recover?? Also food poisoning isnt contagious rite? since it is happening so widely are there any doctor's statement or is this in the press???

your friends may have a parasite. did your friends all eat at the same place? parasites can cause the same side effects asfood poisoning, but food poisoning goes away. may need antibiotic therapy for possible parasites in the intestinal tract

Food poisoning is not contagious...unless of course maybe you ate his poo...and that would be gross. Food poisoning can be deadly...and it can take a bit to get over...but usually not four days. I would assume he has a really bad flu. But regardless, make sure he stays hydrated and gets rest...and he should feel better soon.

it is a Virus we have had 6 off of work with the stomach flu this week.She has a Virus also because she is running a virus.With Food poison you throw up and throw up and throw up over and over.

No, food poisoning isnt contagous, nor does it produce a fever. Food poisoning usually takes about 2 days to recover at which time your body has somehow expelled the offensive food source, either by vomiting or diarrhea. It is flu season, not surprising among a group of friends that you would all have the same thing. Either go to the doctor and get on some meds, or stay away from healthy people until you are better.

there is a horrible stomach virus sweeping through a lot of the schools here in Tn ,and you are right food poisoning is not contagious unless everyone ate the exact same food from the same pot,by the way It could be a bacterial infection which can be spread ,you will need antibiotics to work on that if its viral all you can do is treat the symptoms until it works its course, hope this info helps.

Doesn't sound like food poisoning - that usually resolves in 24 hours or so.

It could be either.

Food poisoning can cause fever, nausea/vomiting, abd pain, diarrhea and just generally feeling awful. It can last up to a week, depending on the kind. Food poisoning isn't contagious, however.

Have your friends been to their family MDs yet to get a diagnosis and treatment? It would be a good idea.
