Food poisoning from eggs?


Can you get food poisoning from eating undercooked (ie, runny) eggs? If so, what kind of food poisoning would that be, and could it make you sick 24 hours later?

Can you get food poisoning from eating undercooked (ie, runny) eggs? If so, what kind of food poisoning would that be, and could it make you sick 24 hours later? I ate the eggs yesterday around noon and got sick this morning.

Salmonella typhi is normal flora in the intestines of a chicken.
About 1 egg in about 10,000 may get tainted with S. typhi.
You really need to thoroughly cook eggs.

the bacteria is called salmonella, and yes it can make you sick within 24 hours. diarrhea is common. nausea, fevers, chills, can also occur.
