Hey Bonniesa. Sorry 'bout your delema. I'm an expert on food poisonong. I've had it atleast seven times in 10 years. Some people get a mild case, and think it's a 24 hour (usually less) bug, or virus. Other people get very ill like you, and still, it kills thousands every year. Chicken is a good medium for food poisoning - more than many other foods due to the nature of the food lends itself to aquiring the bacteria, and the preparation does too. Unfortunately, most of us can never be really positive how we ingested the bacteria. I've been very sick too, from a bad beer, to chicken, to salad. Sometimes others get just as sick, and sometimes not. Also as unfortunate, and this is important, you can rarely be positive how you got the food poisoning. Yes, it may have been only the chicken you ate, and not your friends. You may have picked it up from the door handle onto your hands when you walked in. Anything you touched that other people have been touching all day long is suspect. May be the table you sat at just had it's surface wiped with an infected towel. It's frustrating, but you never know for sure. I had a friend who ate a slice of pizza left in the car all night before eating at McDs and became ill. He swears it was McDs though (easier to blame someone else than to say you did it to yourself). I wrote all this and haven't told you anything I guess. My point is......you never really know for sure. Glad you're better now. |
