Is it Food Poisoning or something else?

****Warning: Kind of graphic****
For the past two weeks, I've been throwing up and experiencing diarrhea. all of my friends tell me it is food poisoning but I believe that I have not eaten anything unusual for quite a while. I drink a lot of water to not be dehydrated but I have been eating less because my stomach can no longer handle food. After I eat, my vomit is normally not fully disintegrated and it is very strong? As in strong I mean like if there was no toilet, I could shoot it at someone a yard away. When I don't eat, I tend to excrete this mucousy brown substance that I think is digested food( but how can it be food if I did not eat anything). I'm mostly worried because I've lost 20 pounds during these two weeks, I'm really tired, and my joints hurt so badly. I went to Kaiser a week ago and the doctor told me that if it does not go away in 24 hours, I should keep a diary...(yeah great job, Mr. genius)...Anyway...help...please...

really, this is something that should be taken care of by a doctor, the most I can tell you is that you may have food poisoning, but if it's been going on this long, it may be something worse. if you really have lost 20 pounds in two weeks than you need to go to the hospital right away. this sounds serious. and the journal was to keep track of your symptoms and how change day to day. the only advice that i can give you is that you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. this could be something very serious. any longer and you could be in really bad shape.

Something is definitely up. Our digestive systems know - it is really amazing. If you are "purging" uncontrollably, it is certainly "something". Seek out the help of a recommended acupuncutrist or herb doctor in your area - eastern medicine can isolate a food that you are eating or substance that you may have an allergic reaction to, if you are so inclinded - please do explore it further. Western Medicine sometimes sucks in the area of diagnoses - it is all about perscribing medicine, and it might not be right in your situation.... Your body system is telling you something important. I hope you are healthy and well again soon.

You could have food poisoning such as campylobacter, which sometimes leads to complications such as pancreatitis, but
I'd be concerned because the mucousy substance could indicate an obstruction or another serious condition. If you have been vomiting for so long and have lost so much weight so quickly, you probably have an electrolyte imbalance and need to be put on an IV. They also may want to insert a feeding tube.

I don't know what that doctor was thinking.

You should go to the hospital ER. It may seem drastic but you do have some worrysome symptoms that need to be treated and they will very likely do tests on the spot there.
