Food labels and wheat allergens?

I am allergic to wheat. Is it true that the FDA now has a law requiring all food labels in America to specify "wheat" if a product contains any form of wheat? For example, instead of listing "Modified Food Starch", if it contains wheat they must list it as "Modified Wheat Starch" and "Hydrolized Wheat Protein" instead of "Hydrolized Vegetable Protein". Have you found any occurrences of misleading labeling?

Is it just wheat you have a problem with or gluten in general?? The law only applies to wheat and not other gluten containing ingredients .

If the ingredients you listed contain wheat then it has to be listed on the label- period- if wheat is not listed then wheat is not in the product- this does not apply, however, to other gluten containing ingredients

If they have, it hasn't been enforced very well. I am also allergic to wheat and the labels are the same as always. I have noticed however, that products that have, say, wheat in them may have a sentence on the bottom of the ingredients that says " Manufactured in a facility that produces wheat, soy, and milk products." or whatever tha facility makes. I saw one that said " May contain trace amounts of wheat from other products this facility produces." I don't know if that has anything to do with the FDA but it helps me. Now it takes me 30 seconds to read whether I can eat something, not 3 minutes..... :)
