Can someone expain food labeling on packages What should we be looking for?

U can find it on my site:

http://summer2006diet.bravehost.com/nutr...

Look for food that is not in packaging - it is much better for you than all that packaged garbage.

The main thing that people look for is the calorie content or energy. This tells you how much energy there is, and dieters generally want less.

Next most imortant is the fat content (esp saturated fat), if you want a low fat diet then go low on this section. Saturated fat is the worst so the lower the better, even if the other fats are higher. One example, is nuts, which ar high in fat, but low in saturated fat, and said to be good for you as the fats are good fats.

As long as you have a good variety of foods, don't eat too many calories or saturated fat then ur good.

Stuff without artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, avoid E numbers, saturated fat, high salt content

You should look at all the nutritional values listed and decide if it meets your standards (amount of calories may be too high for your diet, or you may need less sugar, etc.). The label also must tell you serving size and amount of serving in package. This is important because if you eat the whole package and it has 12 servings you have to multiply all the info by 12.

avoid foods high in salt sugar and e numbers also chemicals you dont know what you are eating these days if you dont check food labels
