Should all food be labeled with its country of origin?

I understand there is a bill in Congress at this moment concerning this possibility. Clothing is labeled in this way, but knowing the source of the food we eat is a mystery. In light of recent problems, with recall of some food, toys, and dogfood, should all food items be labeled with the country of origin, so Americans could make a choice of which food they want to purchase?

YES!

also seafood should be labeled "farm raised"
or "wild caught"

Definitely! (I think they are)

ABSOLUTELY! for all of the reasons you stated.

YES YES YES. It's kind-of scary that food of all things is not always labeled. People can tell you where their car was made, but not where their apple was grown.

And I agree with Karl about the seafood.

Yes, that's a very good point.
As a consumer you have the right to know from which country the food come

I think that labeling everything with as much information is very important. It helps people make the best decisions that they can make for themselves when purchasing. I always hear something on the news about food, relating to good and bad things. The more labeling the more you can filter what you purchase.

I think that would be a great idea. If for no other reason than to allow us to choose to 'Buy American' to support our farms dairies orchards and wineries. Why throw our money overseas? Also the FDA and Department of Agriculture oversees what goes on here and this would beef them up a bit to promote American Agriculture.

This should be moved to the polls section.

Yes, and we sould not let agri-business get away with omitting either that fact, or whether the food as been irradiated or genetically modified.
