Food Allergy to Lettuce?????

The past few months i've gotten salads instead of everything else from fast food restaurants. Everytime i do the rest of the day i'm puking or pooping. I figured it's fast food restaurant salad. maybe the chicken on it?? I went to bob evans yesterday and got the wildfire chix salad (which i'm now addicted to, it's SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD) and the same thing. Ok so maybe it's restaurants in general. I bought some plain lettuce today at the grocery store, made a plain salad and again poops and pukes. I'm convinced it's lettuce. So my question...I've never heard of anyone having an allergy to lettuce, is this even possible? I never got hives, or swelling, just the poops/pukes.

Thanks, i think i'll try that. I dunno if it's hormonal or what. I was never allergic to anything, now if i get to close to my cats, i get itchy and my eyes start watering. If i'm around an air conditioner, same thing. Also with seafood, sometimes bread and bleach.

People develop allergies anytime in life. And most food allergies develop after eating that food many times.

Vomiting and diarrhea certainly are signs of a food allergy. Here is an assessment so you can learn the other signs of food allergies. It may come in handy since you are likely to develop other food allergies as well.

While children usually outgrow allergies to milk, eggs, and wheat, allergies developed in adulthood aren't likely to go away. You'll probably have to avoid lettuce or at least figure out just how much you can tolerate at one time.

Since you've tested plain lettuce, you can be pretty sure it is a food allergy. Food allergies can cause gastro-intestinal problems. I get the same thing from red meat, egg yolks, and still trying to figure out what else.

To be sure, cut lettuce out completely. Then try it one more time. If the same thing happens, you can be sure it's a food allergy, and you should avoid that food if you don't want the symptoms. An allergist goes through this exact process to determine food allergies, but they can do a skin test to confirm it if you want.

First you need to decide if there is anything in, or with the salad that can be the cause. If it happens when you eat plain lettuce without dressings etc. you can figure out whether it is that or something else.

One can have an allergic reaction to foods, but usually it is a preservative, a pestacide, or some additive on the food.

Also If one is pathologically low in B complex the digestion process may not be complete and the immune system will cause a reaction.

Cellulose is not eaisly digested for some; due to a lack of an enzyme needed to break it down in the digestive process.

Stop eating lettuce for two weeks and try it again. If one has low quantities of the proper enzyme to digest a food It can cause reaction if one eats it too often. Give your body a chance to build up the enzyme if it can.

my sisters used to work at a fast food place where they soak the lettuce in some sort of preservative that they said smelled like bleach and it kept the lettuce fresh for an unnaturally long time...I had a friend that was allergic to lettuce in restaurants and white chocolate (she got headaches).
