Baby food allergy?

My 15 month old son has a food allergy to peanuts. His percentage on the scale is 67. How severe is this and can any one tell me more till I meet with an allergist? Thanks

I鈥檓 assuming you are talking about a RAST score, the blood test to check their levels of peanut-specific IgE, the antibodies found in people with peanut allergy. IgE readings are measured on a scale of zero to 100. The scores supposedly indicate the likelihood of a reaction (not to be confused with the severity of a reaction) and the amount needed to cause a reaction. A higher score would mean your son would need less contact with peanuts for a reaction to occur and vice versa. There is also some evidence that the lower the score the better the possibility of the child outgrowing the allergy, but don鈥檛 quote me on it, I can鈥檛 seem to remember where I read that. Best thing to do is be extremely careful about anything he eats. Even restaurants that claim to not use peanuts can often use peanut oil. With a high RAST score even inhaled peanut dust can cause a reaction so it鈥檚 best to always be prepared and have an Epi pen handy. Anaphylaxis is extremely dangerous and you should treat all allergic reaction as if they are life threatening. Call 911 and never try to drive to the hospital yourself.

Good luck and I wish you the best.

I bought a baby food grinder when we had our daughter, because I have so many food allergies.
I made our meals, not using much seasoning, and ground up some for her. If I needed to, I ground up some extra for the next day and put it in the fridge.
While I still have my food allergies, she doesn't have any.
