Is body ache a sympton of a food allergy? |
My husband ate a mango and minutes later swelled up and had a hard time breathing. He got cold and threw up and got diareha. now his whole body hurts form head to toe. is this normal for food allergy? It sounds like it, yes. The swelling and difficulty breathing would not happen with gastroenteritis (bad food). Since the allergen is ingested, it affects primarily the oral and gastrointestinal system (internal organs are wired differently from peripheral nerve endings, and their irritation will be felt rather as a dull pain instead of itching of the skin for instance). the breathing problem should be the big concern. call 911. give him benedryl for a few days, carry an epi pen at all times, take a CPR class, and have him follow up with his allergist. |
