Would this be considered a food allergy? throat swollen.. tongue tingling.. nausea? |
Last night before the big game... my family and i ate some seafood gumbo. I was born here in louisiana but I have never lived here very long. I moved back here for school... but i rarely eat seafood. well last november i ate some seafood gumbo and i got really sick that night and threw up alot. that was the first time in a very long time i have eaten anything like that. i didnt eat any gumbo or seafood until last night before the game. about half way through the meal i started feeling sick. then about an hour after i was done i got real lightheaded and my tongue was tingling then my throat got itchy. i didnt take anything because i thought i would just sleep it off. wellt his morning i woke up and my throat felt tight and my stomach hurt and my tongue was numb. It's very possible...even likely. This type of situation should be handled as a medical emergency because you could be on the brink of anaphylactic shock. Its also possible that you got food poisoning, but this is too risky to mess with. If you have benedryl on hand, take the maximum dose, and get to the hospital. If this is an allergic reaction, once a person has had a reaction of this type, their sensitivity increases and the next reaction is even worse. The swelling can kill you by blocking your trachea. What EMT said is very much on target. |
