What can you tell me about sodium trypolyphostate, a food additive?

My daughter is allergic to many foods, additives, etc. She suffers from severe migraine headaches. We bought a bag of cooked shrimp which contain this chemical, which is meant to keep the shrimp moist. Can you inform me?

This Wikipedia article might be a start:

Keep in mind that Wikipedia articles are sometimes written by non-experts. You should go to a public library near you and ask for some authoritative reference materials on chemicals in food. Here are some suggestions:

A consumer's dictionary of food additives : descriptions in plain English of more than 12,000 ingredients both harmful and desirable found in foods / by Ruth Winter. New York : Three Rivers Press, 2004.

Dictionary of Food Ingredients. by Robert Igoe. Gaithersburg, Md. : Aspen Publishers, 2001

1001 Chemicals in Everyday Products. by Grace Ross Lewis. New York : Wiley, c1999

These are just suggestions. Your local public library may have other sources that provide the same (or better) information. I would call the reference desk and ask if they have the source, or just ask if they can look this up for you.

Here's a few links for info, it's too much to put into here.

Hope this helps.
