Anaphylatic shock to food preservatives?

I was diagnosed with a severe allergy to food preservatives about 3 years ago. It took a year for them to figure out exactly what I was allergic to. I was tested for everything under the sun. Now it's not just msg, but any kind of additive. It's very depressing, not being able to go out to dinner or even eat fast food. I was hoping someone would know of a support group for other adults with the same type of allergy in northern California.

Anaphylactic shock
The most serious kind of allergic reaction is anaphylactic shock. It can kill by suffocation, the result of swelling of the larynx and obstruction of the airway. Anaphylactic shock can occur in response to insect stings, ingestion of allergenic foods in sensitive individuals, and injected or swallowed doses of medication. It is a medical emergency, but it can be treated effectively. An injection of adrenalin (administered under medical supervision) will usually end the reaction promptly.

Now, there are medications you can take and even go to some fairly nice restaurants. But it should be one that offers veggies that are green-grown. You can also have steaks as long as you atay away from catchup and A-1. Medium well does not need to have steak sauce. Backed potatoes do not need butter or margarine.

I almost died when my throat swelled up from a simple bee sting; but I wear a bracelet, alerting medical personel. Check with the doctor who helped you and get the medication that fits your spicific anaphylactic shock. No two people are the same and will be affected by the same products or body poisons.

www.kidswithfoodallergies.org. It is mostly parents of children with food allergies, but there is a section for adults with food allergies. $25.00 membership fee.
