Why is my digestive system becoming increasingly intolerant of fruit?

Last week I tried a handful of cherries and a peach, within a few hours I had stomach pain, bloating and eventually the runs!, I am intolerant of food additives, colourants etc., is this related. Vegetables no problem.

You could be reacting to insecticides, or developing an allergy. Fruits are particularly vulnerable to absorbing insecticides, and a lot of fruits actually have coloring added to them.

Try cleaning the fruit in something like Fit, which is supposed to get rid of insecticides and additives on the skin. If that does not help, consider the possibility that you may be developing an allergy.

The other possibility is that you may have systemic candida (yeast infection). If you crave potatoes, bread and sugar, this could be your problem. If none of these seems to be a problem, consider going to a Chinese doctor, as they specialize in this sort of problem.

could be hypoglycemia

Maybe too much acid.

Fruits and vegetables, if you start suddenly on "only fruits'veggetables diet" give you such "healing crisis". Both contain a lot of magnesium and other minerals. Body goes into detoxification mode and wants to dislodge toxins in the gut, intestines, gall bladder, liver etc. Hence runs.
One should start increasing the quantity gradually and also, do not get disturbed by healing crisis. If you spend 1 week with fruits and vegetables, blood purification is so good that a skin glow results. try it. best medicine these days.

The desire to eat healthier usually includes the desire to eat more fresh fruits. This may not be a healthy option for those who suffer from pollen, latex or even some food allergies. For example, a latex-sensitive individual is at a greater danger of anaphylactic food reactions from cross-reactive foods, many of which are fruits than the general population. If you are reacting to fruit, you may want to get tested for a latex allergy.
Many fruits can cause reactions in susceptible individuals. This very topic has been discussed on the Allergies Forum. Here are some excerpts from the discussion that illustrate the variety of fruits that can cause reactions, as well as, the different reactions that manifest.

JIMMC4: "I found kiwi and strawberry to be a problem, as they cause itchiness. I ate a red plum today, and although I had no itchiness, I felt a peculiar feeling in my face."
KATHLEEN416: "On a scratch test, I had a 10mm reaction to strawberry, orange, and banana. Bananas do not give me hives, but strawberries do. Pineapples will put a welt on my tongue."

LORRAINEMOM: "The only fruit that has given me problems is strawberry. Several years ago I began to get turned off by fresh strawberries and thought it odd. Then, I started to notice a tightness and swelling of the roof of my mouth, and finally connected it to eating strawberry jam."

LRJ103: "I am allergic to lots of fruits. All citrus fruits, strawberries, melons, peaches, pears and bananas. The only fruit I eat is apples."

SNOWBALL110: "I am allergic to apples, pears, cherries, lichees, plums, peaches and nectarines. My mouth itches in response to these fruits."

KERRYDAWN: "I can have an asthma attack or go into anaphylactic shock just being in the same room with someone eating a banana. If I'm around someone eating apples or oranges, I get asthma and a migraine, so you know I wouldn't dream of eating one. I get hives from berries and asthma as well."

DSHACK1: "I have been allergic to strawberries and pineapple for as long as I can remember. Both make my tongue swell and crack. I have also recently noticed that fresh papaya makes my lips and mouth itchy."

TRACYNW1: "I recently started a new diet and I'm starting to eat more fruits and vegetables. My problem is this: When I eat any fruit like apples, oranges, pears (something with a somewhat porous skin), my mouth and throat start to itch."

TRACYNW1: "A long time ago, when I would first ate a banana, my mouth and throat would itch. Then, just a few years ago, after a few sips of a drink that had banana in it, my heart rate went from fine to 140 bpm."

As you have read, some people are unable to eat fruit without experiencing adverse effects. The most common fruits that cause reactions include apricots, bananas, cherries, kiwis, melons, papayas, peaches, pineapples, plums and strawberries.

Some of the symptoms associated with fruit allergies include:
Acute urticaria
Allergic rhinitis
