Wierd food allergy?

If I eat chicken from places like Popeye's (chicken that has been raised with hormones and additives), I end up in the hospital with a severely swollen Uvula. However, if I eat all-natural or organicly raised chicken, I dont have a problem. Has anyone ever heard of someone having an allergic reaction like that?

I have been to an allergist and they did a skin test. I was not allergic to anything they tested for. I cook with peanut oil and have not had the same reaction.

Allergists don't test for everything - they just test for the more common things.

What you need to do is keep a food journal. Get a list of ingredients of Popeye's chicken (that should include the type of oil - and remember that "vegetable oil" can be anything from corn oil to peanut).

Then, keep track of everything you eat that contains any of those ingredients (including the herbs and spices), and see if you have any reactions. This is not going to be easy - it will be somewhat frustrating, because so many foods have so many different names!

If you do notice a reaction to something, have your allergist to a RAST test for that item.

never heard of it, but i believe it's possible. some of the fillers & additives are nasty chemicals that you are having a reaction to.

You need to find out what they are using to fry their chicken. Many places now use peanut oil. That can cause a severe allergic reaction. You need to talk to your doctor about undergoing skin testing. You will need to start to wear a medic alert bracelet so if you have a reaction, EMS will know what is going on. Consider carrying an epi-pen. It might save your life. Talk to your doctor.

my mom had an allergy like that. She was allergic to MSG, you might want to google it or something

you might be allergic to chemicals and additives in the farmed chicken
fried in peanut oil wow that's a problem!
