Aspartame (Nutrasweet): Anyone know where to find scientific proof it is bad for your health?

I am trying to explain to a doctor that aspartame is toxic. I know the history of its approval by the FDA and that Donald Rumsfeld was instrumental in its approval. I know that it was a Reagan appointee to the FDA, Arthur Hull Hayes, who was specifically appointed to get aspartame approved. I know there are some within the FDA that have serious reservations about aspartame and that it is the most frequently complained about food additive.

However, it is a doctor I am trying to convince and someone that requires solid evidence backed by a scientific study. I am wondering if anyone knows where to find this information, not only about aspartame, but other substances as well, i.e fluoride.

I believe I have found the answer with this link above, but I leave the question out there for other input. This link pretty much definitively proves a tumor/cancer link to aspartame, at least in lab rats. It is an Italian study done by a reputable organization.

There was a warning label on the back of the pink sweetner at resturants. "Warning may cause cancer in lab animals" If that doesn't say toxic, I don't know what does.

I think that sweetener has saccharin. Not aspartame. Report It

As far as aspartame goes, here is a great website to some valuable links to information. It was a major deterent to me for using products with aspartame in them.

I hope that this helps.

Mark Report It

aspartame is jewish poison to kill.... Report It

An initial study showed that aspartame was carcinogenic in lab animals HOWEVER this finding has not been repeated in subsequent studies. But, my theory is, anything in excess can be harmful.
