Scalp folliculitis..What do you do?!?

For those who do not know, this is kinda like acne on your scalp..red-inflamed, small, pus-filled pimple on the scalp!

I'm sure there are people who have had this before and successfully cured it..I would like to hear of your experience, and your solution!

Professional advice is very much appreciated..

I've had this problem for years - wasn't really a problem until recently when I got a short haircut!

My dermatologist recommended Neutragena T/Gel shampoo and conditioners with Salicylic Acid. It's important to use a conditioner too as your scalp needs moisture too after it's been treated with the salicylic acid. Follow the instructions on the box!

Some other things that I found to be helpful: changing my pillow case once every week, washing my hair no more than once a day, and NOT scratching my scalp (not even in the shower!! just let the shampoo sit on your scalp for a few minutes before rinsing it off).

Hope this helps, and good luck!!!

This is what my doctor told me: the oil is produced naturally by your hair, and shampooing removes the oil - therefore prompting your scalp to produce more oil. The bottom line is the more you wash your hair, the more oil your scalp produces! So try washing your hair only once a day. Report It

Try tea tree oil shampoo

HydroCortisone Cream is your answer my man!

Also, you may want to make sure that your hair products are not alcohol based or they are completely alcohol free. When you have hair and scalp conditions, hair products containing alcohol tend to make the situation much worse.
