How do I live with my family if I have a folliculitis/staph infection.? |
Antibiotics have worked on the staph, but the folliculitis on my scalp keeps coming back especially after I get haircuts (i'm in the military so I have to get skin fades). I don't want to infect my family. I keep myself clean. I don't want to wash my clothes in the washer anymore because I don't want to spread the infection, I don't even like to take showers in our bathroom. I usually go to the gym everyday and shower there. Have you asked a dermatologist for advice? Folliculitis is an inflammation of a hair follicle probably due to irritation or bacterial, and not necessarily highly contagious. Staph is another matter... Unless you have a resistant type of staph it should be no problem if you practice good hygiene. Washing with soap and water kill pathogens and using bleach on the shower when you are done should suffice. Folliculitis is simply an inflammation/infection of a hair follicle. Shaving can often cause it, remember to clean your razor or utensil after you are done cutting or shaving any hair. Antibiotics usually clear it up. |
