Anyone have a solution for Folliculitis Pseudomonas? |
I got this in a hot tub. Also known as spa acne. That's funny. I've been using a dab of clorox when a new bump appears. What do think? The itch goes away. Folliculitis Pseudomonas is a community-acquired skin infection, which affects the hair follicles after exposure to contained, contaminated water (eg, whirlpools, swimming pools, water slides, bathtubs). It is generally self-limiting (runs its course in 2- 10 days). Individuals with persistent infections or who are immunocomprised may be given an antibiotic called Cipro (ciprofloxacin). Treatment for hot tub folliculitis usually consists of cleansing the infected area thoroughly with soap and water. Warm water soaks can be used. Antibiotic ointment should be applied to the skin rash. If symptoms do not go away, oral antibiotics may be needed. The person should not scratch the pustules. This can make symptoms worse. You need to use an anti-itch medication An antibiotic prescription, such as minocycline, as well as an antibacterial body wash (Hibiclens...over-the-counter and sold at the pharmacy, but you have to ask them for it). Also, I have used apple cider vinegar as an astringent, but it does smell. I read another answer to a similar question recently that had a great idea...dilute the vinegar w/ water in a spray bottle (2 parts vinegar, 1 part water) and spray your whole body in the shower, wait 3 minutes, then rinse. Good luck! |
