Pseudomonas aeruginosa folliculitis?

my family and i have a rash that has been diagnosed as the above. Its called the "hottub" rash. However, we do not have a hot tub, Im perplexed as to where this is coming from, Im assuming our home. We have an all house water filter, am thinking of calling that company to inquire with replacing filter, and this condition "rarely re appears". Well, not the case with us. it clears up then comes right back...Its not an itchy rash. the only treatment is Cipro apparently and they don't recommend it for children. I'd like to know where this bacteria is originating, so I can stop this process.any suggestions or ideas [professional or non? thanks/

I certainly hope you go to another doctor, preferrably a dermatologist. Your statement that it "rarely reappears" is totally incorrect. It does reappear quite frequently and can be nightmare to get rid of.

Anything that you are re-using in the bathroom, like a loofah, washcloth, handtowels have to eliminated. Use paper towel for drying hands in the bathroom and kitchen. Use bath towels once and then wash them in bleach and hot water.

Your entire bathroom needs to be cleaned from top to bottom, throw all towels into the washer with bleach, clean all tile, grout, shower stalls and tubs.

You don't have to use a hot tub to get pseudomonas, you can get it from a swimming pool, contaminated water at your home, or a loofah.

I would get into a dermatologist asap. If your kids do have it they need treatment as well. There are topical solutions and even ear drops that good treamtments for this, so there has to be something safe for you and the kids to use externally. Often you will need a topical solution and oral antibiotics.

One of my kids had this in his ear. We have a dermatologist in the family and I learned a great deal about pseudomonas just this year. Go to a dermatologist asap, and if it was a dermatologist that said it rarely reappears, find another one that didn't graduate at the bottom of their class in med school!

excellent feedback! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
I dont plan on going back to that doctor. Report It

yeah, the doctor said it's rare that it re-appears. thank you!!! Report It
