Pimples at bases of hair down there?

I have little red pimples at the base of my pubic hairs(generally with 2-3 hairs coming from the same spot when there is a pimple).

When i pull the hair(s) out there is some white puss that is attached to the part of the hair that was under the skin. (So its not really puss but just a white substance that is attached to the hair i guess.)

I was thinking it might be Folliculitis (a staph skin infection)? Does anyone know if that sounds like a case of folliculitis?

Any comments would be appreciated, especially from professionals in the health care industry.

You diagnosed it yourself. It sounds like Folliculitis (an infection of the hair follicle). What happens is you get an ingrown hair (especially curly hair) where the hair actually curls under into the skin. Eventually this causes a skin infection (pus, redness, pain).

The problem is these tend to reoccur in the same area. It's really important to shower regularly and don't share your towel.

Your chances are greater when you have a cold or runny nose. (The mucos for there CAN infect the hair follicles). I had a chronic case of this and my doc recommended that I put antibiotic ointment inside my nose.

As mentioned, this offen reoccurs in the same place and may be difficult to treat. For stubborn cases, a doc may prescribe tetrycycline (antibiotic).

I had a nasty bout of follicullitis on my back and chest that was only diagnosed after my dermatologist did a biopsy.

Its just an "infected" hair and absolutely nothing to worry about. It's really pretty common & no big deal. Just keep pulling the hair & then gently squeezing the little bump. If it becomes more than just the little bump you could see a Dr but right now it's no biggie!

Dull blade. Use skin conditioner both before and after. Use a tweezers, use rubbing alcohol to get rid of the bumps and try to un-imbed the hairs (pubic hair is course and curly, it's growing back down into the skin, you need to get those hairs out).

Hey that sometimes happen to me also, but I only have one or two of those "pimples" every now and then (every 2-3 months maybe as it is very seldom). They sometimes have this blackheads right? I dismiss it as normal because as I said, I only see it occassionally. I'm sorry but I also don't know what it is, it doesn't seem like follicultis because I don't have an itching, redness or burning feeling on the site. Well I suggest if you are bothered with this, you should check it with a dermatologist or your OB.
