Can you take both folic acid and the oral Pill at the same time? |
I am currently on the pill but have started taking folic acid for the future term. i am wanting to get pregnant once i get married, i take the pill because my partner doesn't use the condom. is it normal and safe to take the folic acid and then gradually stop the pill to get pregnant? Yes it's fine, in fact it's something that a lot of women are lacking in and accounts for many birth defects. So go for it, and maybe you could visit your doctor for a chat about what other vitamins might be ideal if you want to get pregnant soon. Yes, they have nothing to do with each other. Perfectly safe. not 100% sure...but i am taking folic acid for Crohn's disease.... and i went to get birth control and told them i was taking FA and they didnt say anything about them clashing... but i went with the depot shot anyways.... but if you are starting one of them TELLL them no matter what doctors will judge you but they will also keep you safe Gradually stop the pill? You can get pregnant by stopping just ONE pill. Folic acid is something that women need more of if they do become pregnant, and it's most important in the first trimester. So, taking a supplement now while on the pill is a good idea. That way if your pill fails and you get pregnant, you're already taking the folic acid. As for gradually stopping, again, there's no such thing. You stop by ending the pack, then you get your period. There's no gray area in that. |
