This is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as infancy and pregnancy. Folate is needed to replicate DNA. Folate (folic acid) prevents neural tube defects. The government (Dept. of Health) has determined the recommended dietary allowance. Why should the govenment be responsible for "alleviating the consequences of dietary deficiencies that may occur"???? Since when has this been the responsibility of the U.S. government? What happened to individual responsibility? |
