I have b12 injections evry three months , i had one last friday , then i had a blood test on monday fbc.?

i had the blood results today and according to the results my b12 is abnormally low even though i had the b12 injection 4 days before and folate is low. any ideas?

Thanks girls i have been having them for a year and a half now. the only reason i went back up to the docs is because i had shingles twice in five months. so iam thinking i am run down maybe this is why?

I also have B12 injections every 3 mths (they hurt!) and I've been having them for over a year now. My doctor told me it takes a while to rebuild the store you need. I've only just had my B12 levels checked and they are now ok as long as I continue on the injections.
How long have you been having the B12?

*Hi, it could be that you are run down. I had the injections initially every month eventually spacing to every 12 weeks. Just to be sure though, I would go back and have a word with your doctor, you just might need to have the B12 a little more often for a while. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better soon.

That's strange. i have B12 jabs too every 12 weeks. So far, touch wood, my levels have been fine. perhaps you need a bigger dosage. Worth asking the Dr what to do and maybe have another blood test done in a couple of weeks to see if things have improved. Good news though, when they get your levels OK, usually they stay pretty even when you have regular jabs unless you are un well where your reserves get used up quicker. Hope you get it sorted soon. take care.

I had to have B12 injections as well. My understanding is that it takes a long time for B12 to absorb, especially once the levels become low. Over time of having the B12 shots you should reach a normal level. Perhaps your doctor should increase the frequency. I had mine every month for 6 months.
