Why am i anaemic? I found that my iron levels are at 4, is that really low? |
Also what foods can i eat that will make my iron levels increase. I am currently now taking iron/folate supplements, is this enough of do I have to keep eating foods with iron aswel. Can a stomach ulcer lead to anaemia? there are usually three values to an iron level. the total iron, the iron binding capacity and a transferrin level. none of these have a level of 4. a hemoglobin level can be that low-but it's critical and you would not be up walking around or even alert with it that low. If your iron level is a four...how are you able to type this question out? Yes you are very low. Iron is absorbed in a very small part of your intestine (just below the stomach) The best way to absorb the most iron is to take your iron tablet with a glass of grapefruit or orange juice. High acid / vitamin C environment leads to the best absorption. You can also do all your cooking in cast iron skillets. You don't say if you're male or female but make sure you aren't loosing blood (eg: heavy periods or black tarry stools) This will need to be corrected. Hope this helps! whether 4 is low is best determerined by your doctor, in women who have moderate to heavy periods, you can become aneamic.rion enriched food are the green leafy vegetables, red skined fruits such as strawberries and rasberries, red meats, liver, over the counter iron suppliments are available also check them with your doctor, vitamin suppliments also have a certain amount of iron in them. There are many women who a little anemic because of their menstrual cycles. However, there are lots of other reasons. The best thing to do is see a doctor. anemia is just lack of iron in your blood I think the normal number is 11. If you are taking iron pills then that should be okay. But you should take them everyday and go back in about 2 weeks to make sure that is enough. A stomach ulcer does not cause anemia but the iron could aggrivate it. There are alot of foods high in iron I will get a list together so that you could choose the ones you like. |
