Why is whole grain not enriched?

Most foods made from non-whole grains, such as white flour, say that they are made from enriched flour containing iron (ferrous something), vitamin B, folic acid (folate), etc. Most foods made from whole grains (such as whole wheat bread) do not have these enrichments. Why is this? How do I get both the benefits of whole grain and the benefits of the enriching stuff that they put only in other grains?

I thought that they add something to enriched flour that is not found in regular flour (like adding iodine to table salt). Never mind. My mistake.

Whole grains have not had the nutrients stripped out of them that bleached-fine grains have. That is why they are more healthy for you. Enriched grains are trying to replace the original nutrients that where taken out during processing.

the enriching is unnatural and hard for the body to absorb... stick to whole grain

because the idiot bread makers are 20 years behind the times, and have their collective heads up their arses.

Whole grain doesn't need to be enriched. It's naturally enriched. This is why it's a lot healthier for you than other breads. For complete nutrition from bread, try a multi-grain variety.

whole grains naturally have nutrients. white bread has all nutrients taken out and bleached, then they put some crap back in so people think that it is healthy. make sure you eat whole wheat bread, it is very good for you. white breads and grains are bad for you and hold little nutritional value.

Because nutrients were not removed. Most nutrients are removed in the making of refined flour and a few are artificially added back. Whole grains are better for you.

I did a complete research on this and found out that only whole grain bread is good for you. Remember, stone ground, 9 grain and such may not be whole grain.
