My brother is 14 and is a going to be a freshamn in High School. He is on the JV Football team and is trying to "beef up." My father, against my mother and I's will, has bought him a weight gaining shake to help him gain weight. I am very scared that this shake will mess with his internal organs and that his body isnt prepared to metabloze that kind of calorie/vitamin/mineral intake all at once. i will list the ingrediants below and the brand and hopefully will get some answers to help satisfy my big sister paranoia.
Cyto Gainer
Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Hydrolysate, Creatine Monohydrate, Vitamin A Acetate, Cholecalciferol, D-Alpha-Tocopherol Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Folate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Niacinamide, Pyridoxin HCL, Cyanocobalamin, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Iodide, Potassium Chloride, Ferrous Fumarate, Magnesium Oxide, Chromium Nicotinate, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, Potassium Citrate, Carrageenan Weight gainers are not anything special - just protein usually and creatine. I don't think that should be a problem or have any adverse effects, but I'd probably just go with a whey protein, that did NOT have creatine. I didnt see one poisonous ingredient in there. Relax and let men be men "Weight gaining" shakes are basiclly protein fortified powders, they don't do anything chemiclly harmful to your body.
Hope that helps ! |
