What is fluid seeping for the skin of the ear?

My father occasionally get fluid from the ear, vertigo, his ear "closes up" and pain. The ENT said it is NOT an ear infection, that the fluid is actually coming from his skin. My father can even make the fluid come out by rubbing or scratching his inner ear. Antibiotics will cause it to dry up and heal, but it still comes back. Any clue what it might be?

If antibiotics fix the problem, even temporarily, then it sounds like an infection. Perhaps he was misdiagnosed by the ENT.

Maybe it's wax from his ear or if he took a shower, it could be the water coming out.
