Pneumonia Fluid?

I posted that I had bronchitis but just saw a different doctor who said it's actually pneumonia and never was bronchitis. When she saw my chest xray she said my left lung has a lot of fluid and it explains why my back hurts when I take a deep inhale.

My question is what is the best way to reduce the fluid in the lung? I asked her about taking mucinex and she said that's really for bronchitis and not for fluid in the lung and that fluid gets absorbed by body. But are there any methods, herbs or ways to accelerate the fluid from lung being eliminated?

I don't really feel too bad (she gave me a new antibiotic and said biaxin doesn't work well for pneumonia). She said I may not even need it because the infection may be gone but thought it was good to take it anyway.

The biggest problem seems to be that if I inhale deeply it hurts and I can't get a good breath but if I don't inhale too deeply I feel pretty good (just tired more).

Also will a vaporizer help?

Thanks.

Someone just wrote that a vaporizer can increase risk of infection. Can someone explain that? My doctor thought it was ok and I put in some eucalyptus as well as herbal drops called lung tonic.

is it bacterial or a viral pneaumonia, if it's bacterial then take the antibiotics until they are GONE. If it viral there really isn't a pharmacotherapy that will help you and you should rest, eat right and avoid irritants until your body fights it off itself. There are some anti-viral meds that are pretty costly that may help clear up the exudate. Take some vitamins to help your immune system.

Your Dr is right. The body will absorb this fluid. Unfortunately, you cannot accelerate this process. You will be very tired for a long time. Get as much rest as you can and take all your antibiotic. If the problem worsens, the doctor could remove some of the fluid with a chest tube but this is extremely painful and risk of infection is very high. A vaporizer only increases a risk of infection. Hope you feel better soon.
