Fluid in pelvis?

I am 15 years old. I've been having really bad pain in my lower right abdomen along with some vomitting so yesterday I went to the hospital and they did tests and found nothing wrong. The doctor told me that I have a high white blood cell count and high LDH (Not sure what that is?). They also did an ultrasound & cat scan and found a moderate amount of fluid in my pelvis. What could have caused the fluid? The doctors have no idea what's wrong with me. I've been having the pain for about a month now.

I'm kind of worried because I had cancer when I was younger, and every doctor I went to couldn't find anything wrong.

Sorry for the pain your having but , my daughter had the same thing about 4 months ago and they determined that she had a cyst on her ovary and it burst..they said to put her on birth control to control ovulation...it has seemed to work..good luck...

locate a well established gyno near you and go he/she can determine what specialist you need if he/she is unsure of problem don't ignore what your body is trying to tell you!

Very sorry to hear about your problem. See another doctor as soon as possible.
All the best to you.

LDH is too non-specific and usually indicates some tissue damage (not what type of tissue tho) High WBC's usually indicate a reaction to some type of infection. Fluid build up in the extremities is called "edema"; when it is in the abdoman it is called "ascites" and can be related to liver disease among other things. If they found nothing wrong they may not have looked good enough. See your ob/gyn or GP for more testing.

You do need to see a gynecologist for definitive answers here. They can best read pelvic ultrasounds, CAT scans, have their own gynecoradiology department take a look and sometimes those specialty radiologists can see something that was missed from an ER radiologist.

High white blood cell count indicates an infection of some sort....this can range (depending on the differential...the measurements of each type of white cell) from a viral infection to a bacteria, like strep throat, to even artificially elevated if you have been on prednisone or other steroid.

I would get to a gynecologist for a diagnosis and definitive treatment if I were in your position. The ER docs do a great job helping in the urgent stages and for severe acute problems, but for something long term that may take a little time for the evaluation, a specialist is a better route to take.
