Fluid leaking from nipple? Not pregnant... HELP.?

I tried looking for something similar to whats happening to me, and found nothing. I'm really scared and its embarrassing, but here whats happening:

I'm 21 years old, female. I've been noticing small amounts of fluid leaking from my left breast for a few months now, off and on. Its not consistent. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative so its not that. I was curious, so I put some of the fluid on a q-tip and it was yellowish in color. I'm scared and I don't know what I should do. I can go see a doctor but if its not something too important, I don't really want to. Any advice or suggestions to why this might be happening? Help!

I've also had small sharp pains in my breast too.

Many women can produce a yellowish liquid from their nipples if they stimulate, and that's not a cause for concern. However, if you're experiencing sharp pains in the breast, I would contact your doctor. You could have some sort of infection in your breast.
