How long will fluid in the middle ear take to go away?

I've had fluid behind my ear drum for about 6 days now and it is still there. It is really bothering me and I wish it would go away soon. I went to the doctor 3 days ago who confirmed fluid behind my ear drum. I am prescribed nose spray and Doxycycline which I am taking as prescribed. How long will this fluid take to clear up?

Just wanted to add that the doctor I saw was an ENT. He is the who prescribed the nose spray and Doxycycline.

Hopefully it will clear up soon but if it doesn't then see an ENT doc to get this checked out. Sometimes in rare cases nothing helps the fluid go away and you can wind up with hearing loss. This is what happened to me years ago despite every drug in the book and tubes in my ears twice. Good Luck.

I've had that before and it depends on your constitution. I used glycerine and it drained out.

Well, what u can do, is when you go to sleep, lay down on the side that the fluid is in. It should ooze out overnight depending on the amount in there.
