Knee fluid... what could be wrong? |
i had a motorcycle accident about 2 weeks ago... i hit my knee no brokend bones or damage mucles... so my doctor put some stiches .... but the cut didnt close all the way... so i still have a little open skin but there is some kind of fluid coming out of my knee... i been taking antibitics and i am sure that is not pus... this is some kind of yellow fluid and its really thin.. doest have smell.. what do u think it may be? i am freaking out!! It sounds like synovial fluid (the fluid in your joints that absorbs shock and lubricates the knee). The inflammation is a natural reaction to an injury. The swelling will eventually go down. The little hole left by the doctor will help with the excess fluid so it can drain. I have had to have my knee drained with a large bore and long needle due to an injury. I do not think you have anything to worry about. Just keep it clean and if it starts to turn red or the fluid starts to have a foul odor to it go see the doctor. It's an infection! Go back to the doctor and tell him your symptoms!!! I would definately call your doc. Theyll know more than us. As long as the fluid is not cloudy, and doesn't have a foul smell, you shouldn't worry about it. The fluid sounds like a normal exudate that is common with deep wounds. More that likely, it is the interstitial fluid that caused the swelling. Normally it would be reabsorbed into the body, but in you case it is able to drain off. |
