What is Eye Dilation Fluid Made of?

What is eye dilation fluid made of and is there a natural version?

Also what other side-effects are there to eye dilation fluid? Of course it dilates the irises, but does it cause any blurred vision or pain?

How long do the effects last?

My thought is that a person would be able to see better in the dark or at night with eye dilation fluid, but I may be wrong from whatever reasons.

not atropine. most of the time its tropicamide or tropicamide/phenyephrine combo.

1% tropicamide dilation generally lasts about 3-4 hrs

it does not cause pain, but can cause blurry vision (REALLY blurry vision if you're FAR-sighted).

there is no "natural" version. pharmaceutical dilation is not very natural. atropine is derived from a plant, however...

nope. untrue. worse vision in nearly all circumstances and situations.

It was made of atropine, but that was a few years ago, so not sure they still use it. Not sure it would help alot with night vision, but stands to reason since it dilates the pupil to allow in more light. Any bright light you see though may hurt (pain). The small amount they use for the eye shouldn't cause any other atropine side effects. Doesn't last more than a few hours. My friend just went to the eye doc and they said they didn't dilate eyes routinely anymore.
