MIDDLE EAR FLUID does ZYRTEC alone Dry it out HELP?

hello everyone i went to my primary care doctor because of pressure and a clogged up ear and he told me I have Middle ear effusion, which in term means i have fluid stuck in my middle ear, anyway I have had this problem for 6 years now, and learned to live with it after getting misdiagnosed over and over again by ENT's... anyway the doc tested my ear with some sort of instrument that printed out the information, and let him know i had middle ear effusion.. he gave me zyrtec he said that should dry the ear? and that should be the end of it, I am not sure if the zyrtec alone can dry out my ear, have any of you had success with zyrtec alone while having middle ear fluid, doc only gave me 20 days worth of treatment will that be enough?

wait and see. but i know you can take decongestants to help with that all kinds. as well you can just use your hair dryer to blow air into your ear that came straight out of the book doctors book of home remedies. and i have done it many times it works.

Thanks alex im a try that. =D Report It

Zyrtec is an antihistamine, not a decongestant. To my knowledge, it will not "dry out" your ear. However, if your ear problem is a result of an allergy, it may, over time, reduce the severity of your problem.

That is what they did for my son. He use to always have ear problems, usually when the seasons change. In the fall they put him on Zyrtec, to see if it would help, and it has worked well. I have had so many problems with ear aches in the past with him at least 2 a year. I was thinking about putting tubes in his ears, but this works so well now, I am going to wait another year and see if works for all seasons. Good Luck, and in my son's case the Zyrtec as been a God Send.
