Excessive brain fluid (hydrocephaly).? |
have a 17-month son who has not been able to normally walk yet. He can walk with a help of others but not by himself. In fact, this condition is getting worse as time passes by. Doctors have diagnosed and detected excessive fluid (ventricles) in his scull and they believe this induced the syndroms, but they are not sure what instigate the problem. Some guess this happened due to the forceps' tenstion during the birth (delivery), whereas, others believe this might be a cause of a high fever when he was younger. But everybody is in agreement that there is excessive fluid around the brain. One of the pediatricians prescribed physiotherapy (exercises) to rehabilitate the walking ability. He also believes this condition must fix itself as my son grows. My son had the exact same problem. He also had a scan done to check for hydrocephalus. In our case, the doctors were unsure. They thought that maybe he had excess fluid on the brain, but thought that it might also be normal. We were tested again later and he was fine. I do not no about physiotherapy because that was not mentioned to us. you can seek out another opinion but still go with the physical therapy. My daughter has some developmental delays. PT reallys helped her out alot. She finally started walking when she was almost 19 months old. |
