Is the flu shot safe? |
I have severe asthma, so my doctor has recommended a flu shot (With my asthma the way it is, the flu can easily turn into pneumonia). I'm a little scared of it. Some people say you can get the flu from it. Other people think that it's a dead version of the virus that causes the flu and there's no danger. What do y'all think? Today is Sunday, I got a flu shot on Friday. I am not a "sickly" person, but it never fails that the kids bring some yucky virus home from school and I end up sick. How many people do YOU know that have died from a flu shot??? It's safe. You might get cancer from your microwave, though, lol. No! The government wants to KILL everybody! You can't get the flu from the vaccine; however, some people will have a reaction that feels achy, sore, etc but it isn't the Flu. A couple of times that I've had a flu shot, I've gotten a little sniffly and achy for a day or so, but most years I have no reaction at all. Personally for me, I'm a wuss and scared of needles, so the worst part of the whole thing is the needle itself. (Anybody who's had a flu shot is rightfully laughing at me right now.) As your doctor has already told you, you are in a high-risk group and an influenza vaccine is recommended. You will not get the flu. But get the flu shot. I dont know but if you get one be prepared to have a cold I get one every year and I always end up with a cold and I have asthma but not severe. I mean its just a little cold and not life threatning. but you will be ok it will keep you from getting sick this winter. flu shot is totally safe. It's made from a form of the anticipated flu virus that poses no danger to humans. Go get your flu shot and worry not! it is safe as long as you are not sick ie. have a temperature. the virus is inactivated so the bugs are dead. your doc is right with a diagnosis of any chronic illness you need a flu shot. if it wasnt safe why would people get it commen scence the flu shot does not contain a live virus. you cannot get the flu from this injection. many people confuse the adverse effect from it the next day for the flu. most people do not feel anything from the injection but a few (including myself), have muscle aches, headaches, a low grade temp, and general under the weather feeling for 1-2 days after getting the vaccine. Tylenol helps with this. If you have asthma, your best bet would be to get the flu vaccine- believe me, pneumonia is much worse than the after effects you may or may not get after the injection. Victory over the flu through chemicals. Deal with your asthma. Worry about the flu if you ever get it. You are most likely taking enough supplements right now, that the flu will pass you right bye. Hi Kimberly Don't risk the flu shots. |
