Is it possible for the flu or flu medication to cause a nervous breakdown? |
Years ago I remember I had the flu - it was some severe type of flu which required taking a course of pills. After the first day of taking it I had a complete mental meltdown. I've never had one before than and it came out of the blue. I don't know if it was due to the heavy flu meds or maybe the flu itself - does anyone know if the flu or flu meds can cause a mental breakdown? <skanktale>: As I mentioned in my post - I've never had this happen before UNTIL I took the flu meds. I didn't have any mental health problems until I took those meds. First answer NO! It is not possible. Flu medicine isn't supposed to be taken by anyone with mental illness and withdrawal from it can cause a person to have psychiatric symptoms. |
