Flu, cold or something else?

I have felt lousy all day. My nose is stuffed up (only 1 side - don't think it's a sinus infection though), I have a cough and sore throat, I feel really tired and achey and I also feel very nauseous (no vomiting though.) I feel like someone is sitting on my chest too, it's very tight (I don't smoke.) I don't have a fever. I started to feel sneezy and sniffly two days ago and from what I hear, the flu is usually comes suddenly. Also, I read that only kids get nauseous with the flu.

I'm 22 and otherwise healthy. I know I should've had a flu shot, but I didn't. I don't want to go to the doctors over this, and I'm hoping I won't be sick for Christmas! Has anyone else had symptoms like this? Do you have a clue of what it might be?

Whatever it is, the treatment is pretty universal: drink lots of fluids (this keeps the mucous thin enough to cough up and get out, so it doesn't brew inside you or make your chest tight), get plenty fo rest (your immune system is working overtime. Give your body the rest it needs), take lots of vitamin C (to "bowel tolerance" or until youn get loose stools from it. Make sure you drink lots of water), and foster your connection with the divine, knowing that a good God doesn't send pain, suffering or bad things to His people.

If you do wind up going to the Dr., he will probably put you on antibiotics. Sounds like a borderline case of bronchitis, maybe as a secondary infection. If you do need to go on antibiotics, eat yogurt with live lactobacillis culture, to keep the balance of the good organisms in your gut.

I wish you well. If you are better by Christmas, try not to overdo on anything for Christmas. Lay off the alcohol and white sugar (they sap the immune system and dehydrate you), continue to get the rest you need, and have a calm and peaceful, low-key Christmas. What better way to celebrate the birth of the Christ? His birth wasn't wild and crazy, so why should His birthday be?

the flu shot would have just made you sick anyways, you got a cold and you'll just have to suffer through it, take Advil or something like it to get rid of the body aches, and plenty of vitamins

You are going to be sick for Christmas. Go to the doctor.
