Flu - Worse for Men or women?

Is there anyone out there that agrees with me than flu is more severe for men then women. My evidence is; when my partner has flu she can still manage to cook, clean and shop etc. However I get man flu and I cant even get out of bed?? My partner thinks I'm weak!! Come on fellas back me up here

Flu effects people the same, but man flu (common cold) affects men, because they are mummys boys and think they need TLC. Men only play up their illnesses when theres women around to molllycoddle them, otherwise they just get on with it like women do anyway.

ROFLMFAO!!! Report It

please, don't get me started on this.

Man flu is the worst thing in the world!

Men

women have to get on with it cos you men wont do anything to help.women cope better than men cos men are all wussies.

women are better adapted for dealing with it and they know that the kids will probably starve if they leave it to the partner so they just have to get on with it whereas men just choose to let the woman do things for him when he is ill. women are fighters and men are weak.

Yeah, men are really babies so I agree with you.

i agree with your partner and also agree that most men are lazy too !

No - I just think men have less pain resistance!@~

men because women can handle pain MUCH better. no wonder god gave US the gift of having babies.

Having witnessed the phenomenon of man flu I have to draw the conclusion that it is in fact much worse than a similar condition which affects women. I have never had any time off work or anything else for that matter as a result of a cold. My partner however needs 24 hour care and has to speak in a feeble whisper when he has a cold. I go along with one 24 hr period of mopping his fevered brow and then he is on his own.

The only thing (I think) I know is that men are more likely to die from illness and disease at every stage of their life (from babies to old age) than women.
So I think that women generally have a stronger constitution than men.

I believe that every human life starts out as female and then at an early stage those that become male change, so perhaps this change does bring about a weakening of the body's ability to deal with illness.

I think this is what I've heard and read - but I may be completely wrong...

OK, real flu makes you feel like youre dying. A cold makes you uncomfortable but you can still get up etc, with the flu any moving results in feeling sick, you cant sit up, theres pain everywhere, its awful. So, if youre wifes out shopping when she has the flu, she's just got a cold!!

Nah, sorry mate. We get it the same.

OK lets annoy the girls here (I know I am gonna get into trouble for this one)

I think men can feel the affects of a heavy cold more than women because they shoulder a heavier responsibility of being the main bread winner. I can go shopping and do house work when I am ill because its just a routine but I can not function properly in the workplace.
Just the stress of knowing you are going to have to call in sick, how the boss is going to take it, what are you gonna miss can make you feel a whole lot worse. This can also keep you awake worrying about it overnight meaning you are truly dead in the morning.

Sorry girls, but there you are. :)

ON THE SAME SUBJECT: For me there is nothing more annoying than the COMPLETE IDIOTS who thinks its a good idea to try and soldier on at work with heavy colds or mild flue. They manage to stick around long enough to infect the entire office before he or she either passes out or is sent home anyway. Instead of sweating it out for a day in bed (normally all it takes) they are off for the entire week after infecting everybody else.

If you are sick. Do the rest of us a favour and stay at home. We don't want your germs in the office, train, tube or bus. If your employer is not happy with that report them anonymously under Health & Saftey at work regulations.

Yes, you are experiencing "man flu".This is common in all the males I know, being that when they aren't feeling very well, or have the flu, they find themselves completely incapacitated for at least a week, and with lots of sniffling. Us women however, feel exactly the same, but have more interesting things to do than mope around saying we don't feel very well. eg, Having lives and putting up with a sniffle.

"Birds" get it worse! .. but they carry on till they drop...

if ur partener had flu she would not beable to do any of theese things... i she had flu she would be in bed and not be able to move . people say they got flu if the got a slight cold .. im with you on this one hun

When a man has the flu - he is dying of a killer disease, when a woman has flu - she just has to get on with life.

Well I agree with Little Minx how true
